The Refuge Climbing & Fitness Hosts Local Climber Alex Johnson and Joe Kinder for Fundraiser Nov. 14

LAS VEGAS - Nov. 4, 2014 - PRLog -- The Refuge Climbing & Fitness (http://www.climbrefuge.com) (RCF), a state-of-the-art bouldering and fitness facility located in Las Vegas with over 10,000 sq. ft. of bouldering terrain, hosts a slideshow presentation by Las Vegas resident and North Face athlete Alex Johnson (http://aj-ontherocks.blogspot.com/), a two-time bouldering world cup gold medalist and five-time national champion and world class professional climber Joe Kinder. The event is on Friday, November 14 at 7 p.m., and showcases bouldering in Las Vegas, which attracts top climbing athletes from around the globe. Johnson and Kinder will showcase their climbing adventures around the United States, Europe and South America.

The slideshows are part of the Southern Nevada Climbing Festival, a membership drive and fundraiser for the Las Vegas Climbers Liaison Council (LVCLC). The LVCLC is a grassroots affiliate of the Access Fund that advocates for climbers in Southern Nevada by promoting responsible stewardship of local resources. To attend, purchase a joint membership to the LVCLC and the Access Fund at www.lvclimberscouncil.org. $35 in advance (or $40 at the door) includes admission to the festival, an LVCLC T-shirt and stainless steel mug. Kids age 17 and under and one parent can attend the Alex Johnson/Joe Kinder slideshow free of charge, though a donation to the LVCLC is appreciated.

“I moved to Las Vegas because of the endless rock climbing opportunities,” said Johnson, who is originally from Minnesota. “As an athlete, I feel fortunate to live and train in a place where I’m inspired by the landscape and motivated by the other dedicated athletes who train at The Refuge.”
