DELHI, India - Nov. 14, 2014 - PRLog -- MPS Puri, CEO of Nira Hotels- portfolio of C&C Alpha’s Shanti Hospitality, attended the Luxury Hospitality Conference in Athens on October 13-14 at the Hotel Grande Bretange. Co-organized by the International New York Times and Ecole hôtelière de Laussane, it was the second edition of the conference which served as a platform to the global industry leaders to network and exchange views in regard to the latest hospitality market challenges and prospects.

The second edition was predominantly marked by industry leaders exploring the huge opportunities offered by the Mediterranean region. The event was graced by the presence of Olga Kefalogianni, Minister of Tourism, Greece, who stressed on fortifying the image of Greece as a medical, wellness, cultural, agro-tourism, yachting and culinary hub.

The illustrious speakers put out distinguished insights with MPS Puri’s perspective on redefining Chinese tourism taking hold.

Speaking at the event, the CEO of Nira Hotels noted that although 200 million Chinese visitors were expected to travel abroad this year, it will be going too far to define the exact number of luxury travellers.

A comprehensive assessment on the Chinese tourist segment also came from Abid Butt, CEO of Banyan Tree who stressed upon the implementation of “equivalent tools” as trusted by the Chinese to capture this market. Speaking on Technology and Asia, he reiterated the importance of investing in technology to ensure that the tourism industry is more active.

During the conference, Professor Samad Laarousi, holder of the chair of Luxury Hospitality, Ecole hôtelière de Laussane and David Sadigh, CEO of the Digital Luxury Group presented the World Luxury Index Hotel report 2014, presenting findings from over 485 million online searches on 70 brands in 20 markets. The index identified an increase of 7.7 percent marking the growth of consumers in luxury hospitality industry with a chief inflow added by Chinese market at 39 percent.

With manifold events and visions embellishing the two-day conference, the majority agreed that bringing “experience” and “luxury” closer will enhance hospitality as a culture-- something that resonates the vision of C&C Alpha Group’s Executive Director Bhanu Choudhrie.
