Mary Flinn and Laura Wharton are award-winning novelists. Flinn, of Summerfield, N.C., is the author of six contemporary romance novels. Her newest release is titled Breaking Out, a story of love lost and redemption. Flinn’s fans will instantly love this new book because Flinn writes about realistic people—middle- Originally from Raleigh, Wharton pens historical sea adventures and mysteries. She has titles suitable for adults, young adults, and children. She now lives in Mt. Airy with her husband and pre-teen son Will, the co-author of the award-winning “Mystery at the Lake House Series.” The newest title is The Mermaid’s Tale, which follows three children in a North Carolina lakeside community as they solve another mystery; this one concerns a real mermaid they see, though their parents don’t believe them at first. What they learn about the mermaid’s presence in their lake as the mystery unfolds turns out to be a fun, educational adventure for readers. The mother-son writing team tempts and teases readers with page-turning cliff hangers and clues that will keep readers engaged until the end. As in the first book, there is a kid-friendly project, an interview with a real mermaid, and delicious and fun recipes from the characters’ tables. Another short picture book perfect for very young readers is The Wizard’s Quest in which a wizard has lost his wand and must travel to stunning locations in North Carolina to find it. Handcrafted wands are available for sale to make a perfect gift set for young readers. Young adults and adult readers seeing adventure will enjoy award-winning titles of Leaving Lukens set near Oriental and New Bern during World War II, or the critically acclaimed novel, The Pirate’s Bastard, a pirate story set in colonial Wilmington and Brunswicktown. For more information about the event or the books, contact Laura Wharton, 336-326-7256 or visit www.LauraWhartonBooks.com or www.TheOneNovel.com. Both Flinn and Wharton are available for interviews on Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2014, and during the event. End
