New Children’s Mystery by Laura S. Wharton, “The Wizard’s Quest,” Released

MOUNT AIRY, N.C. - Sept. 19, 2014 - PRLog -- Will time run out before the magic does? That’s the challenge for Edgar, the Elder, Wizard of the Woods, is faced with in the new children’s book titled THE WIZARD’S QUEST by award-winning novelist, Laura S. Wharton. The North Carolina novelist also pens mysteries with children and historical adventures for young adults and adult readers. A limited number of books will be available with one-of-a-kind, hand-crafted wands which will be sold as gift sets for the coming holiday season at upcoming events include Southern Pines AutumnFest (Saturday, Oct. 4), Persimmons Festival (Saturday, Nov. 1), and Raleigh’s Christmas Carousel at the Fairgrounds over Thanksgiving weekend (Nov. 28-30).

“The wand is a nice touch that allows young readers to animate the story or be part of it themselves,” says Wharton.  “I am enchanted by children’s imaginations, and so my stories are meant to encourage them as the dreamers and storytellers they are naturally.”

The book can be read without the wand as well, she adds. In fact, Wharton placed a secret spell amid riddles in the book that might help readers determine how the main character’s quest should end based on clues she leaves throughout the story. Popular North Carolina destinations are featured as well, including the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, the North Carolina Transportation Museum in Spencer, and the coast where an occasional mermaid may visit.
