Detroit Gun Instructor Creates Seminar To Address Accidental Child Shootings

DETROIT - Nov. 24, 2014 - PRLog -- Legally Armed In Detroit - a firearms training and gun rights advocacy organization - will be conducting a 3 hour presentation on Saturday, November 29th, 2014 as to how parents can responsibly own guns to defend their homes while also adequately safeguarding their firearms from children.

The seminar was specifically created to address four separate incidents in which four different children were seriously injured in metro-Detroit when they gained access to an unattended firearm in a home. The express purpose of this event is to educate parents how to lawfully and responsibly own firearms while keeping their children safe from harm.

This program will be of special interest to the following people:

1. Parents with both guns and children in the home.

2. Parents with children who want to buy guns

3. Parents with children who visit other homes.

The agenda will be as follows:

- Rick Ector, an NRA credentialed Firearms Instructor, will be opening the session with an introduction to fundamental safety and safe firearm storage.

- A 45 minute "Project Childsafe" video from the National Shooting Sports Foundation on firearms in the home will be played. The presentation will be moderated by Michigan Gun Owners (https://www.facebook.com/migunowners).

- A local attorney with a specialty in Firearm Law, will be providing a primer on the legalities and the responsibilities of having a gun in the home.

- Q & A

The first 50 registrants of this program will receive a FREE gun cable lock. The locks were donated by Michigan Open Carry, Inc (https://www.facebook.com/MichiganOpenCarry) and the Algonac VFW.

Registration to this event will be capped at the first 60 people to officially register. Parents are encouraged to also register a child to come along with them to the training session.

The program will be conducted on Saturday, Nov. 29th, 2014 at 10am at the L.A.D.S. (downtown Detroit) at address 613 Abbott Street, Detroit, MI - Plenty of free parking is available.
