Making Christmas Special With New Christmas Jewelry

SNELLVILLE, Ga. - Nov. 25, 2014 - PRLog -- It may not seem like holiday gift giving and taking a stand against political correctness go hand in hand, but many jewelers across the country think that there just might be a connection. With sales of specific Christmas jewelry continuing to rise over the last few years, plus many people finally feeling the effects of the recession ending, jewelers are anticipating a potentially record breaking year by stocking up on jewelry specifically created to celebrate the holiday of Christmas, and even creating a Christmas special to let people know of their new selections.

“Obviously, the holiday season is one of the busiest times in the jewelry industry,” said Lesya Harris, one of the jewelry consultants at Barron’s Fine Jewelry. “Not only do we get people who are shopping for presents, we are also seeing a lot of people looking for engagement rings, which is to be expected. What we’ve definitely seen a noticeable increase in, over the last few years, are people looking for gifts that are holiday-centric, and specifically, Christmas themed.”

Some gifts, like solitaire engagement rings, are going to be worn all the time, but making sure that the jewelry gift you give is tied in with a certain time of year almost guarantees that the jewelry will be worn for many years to come. Just like decorating the house and pulling out the horrible sweaters every year, holiday themed jewelry will become part of the seasonal tradition. However, many people are moving beyond the more generic snowman pendants and snowflake earrings and are looking for reindeer charm bracelets, a Santa Claus necklace and even pins and brooches that spell out “Merry Christmas.”

“People feel like they are losing a little bit of their identity, their memories of childhood, when everything has become ‘Happy Holidays’ and they even risk getting in trouble at their jobs for saying ‘Merry Christmas’,” Mr. Freeland went on to say. “By offering a Christmas special of jewelry that reflects a specific holiday, people feel like they are reasserting themselves a little bit.” It may be a bit of a stretch to say that fine Christmas jewelry is the front line of the latest protest, but it certainly seems like it has become more popular than ever.
