Dec. 6, 2014 - PRLog -- The Famous Grouse Experience at Glenturret Distillery in Crieff is toasting being named Whisky Visitor Attraction of the Year at Whisky Magazine’s 2015 Icons of Whisky Awards, while its manager Stuart Cassells also collected a Highly Commended Award for Visitor Attraction Manager of the Year.

Scotland’s oldest and most visited distillery battled it out against 20 other whisky visitor attractions, including many of Scotland’s other top distilleries to take the coveted title which was chosen by the voting public.

It has been an exciting year for Scotland’s most popular Distillery. The Famous Grouse Experience completed a £250,000 investment in its key visitor areas and café. The refurbishment programme, which was the first major upgrade to the facilities since 2007, was officially opened at the end of May by The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, whose visit received international media coverage, projecting the visitor’s event facilities across the globe.

Their efforts to welcome the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to Strathearn were also recognised by the events industry with a Commendation for Best In House Event for hosting the Royal Visit, at the Scottish Event Awards in Glasgow.

Stuart Cassells, General Manager at The Famous Grouse Experience, said:

“This is great news for the team. We were delighted to be shortlisted for two Icons of Whisky awards, but to have picked up the title of Whisky Visitor Attraction of the Year, and a commendation for Visitor Attraction Manager of the Year is a real honour. The fact that the public have voted for us to win is really the icing on the cake and reflective of the world-class venue that is enjoyed by so many people every year. Everyone here at The Famous Grouse Experience is simply delighted and exceptionally proud.”
