East-West Named College with Second Lowest Student Loan Debt per Graduate in America

Small Chicago College Earns National Recognition for Extremely Low Student Debt

CHICAGO - Dec. 9, 2014 - PRLog -- The November 2014 Report of The Project on Student Debt named East-West University the second best university in America with an average student debt after graduation of $4,100, behind only The City University of New York’s York College. East-West University is the only Illinois college to appear on the list.

The Project on Student Debt is an initiative of The Institute for College Access & Success (TICAS) based in Oakland, California. The Project on Student Debt is a nonprofit organization focused on research and policy work. Their website was named one of the ten best college websites by U.S. News & World Report.

With the lowest tuition of any private university in Illinois, East-West University is able to graduate students well prepared for the workforce and unburdened by excessive debt.

East-West University is offering all new students registering for the Winter Quarter, which begins in January, locked in tuition rates for all four years of college.

Tuition at four-year private colleges increased 3.7 percent on average between fall 2013 and fall 2014, according to the “Trends in College Pricing 2014” report prepared by the College Board. East-West is offering a tuition freeze that could save students thousands of dollars over the course of their studies.

“I want to provide those interested in higher education with a once in a lifetime opportunity,” said East-West Chancellor Dr. M. Wasiullah Khan, promising “no tuition increase for your entire four years of enrollment with East-West University.”

At East-West University students are not just a number. East-West’s commitments to small class sizes and individual attention have helped the University build a reputation as an outstanding institution of higher learning.

East-West students have access to a brand new Student Life Center with gyms, indoor basketball courts, multiple lounges with great views and more. Students also receive a Ventra Card to use in getting around the city on public transportation.

Early in Dr. Khan’s career he had a vision to create a university that provided quality, affordable education to students no matter their background. In November 1978 he convened a group of educators to establish a new multicultural institution of higher learning in Chicago. In 1980, Dr. Khan’s vision became a reality and East-West opened its doors.

East-West University is a private, not-for-profit, and non-denominational institution of higher learning in Chicago’s South Loop.  East-West is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (NCA), and provides affordable, quality higher education to students from all ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds.
