They believe in themselves and don’t give up. Since its inception in 2005, RisingHy has continued to grow, and Konefal has found being an entrepreneur to be rewarding, but also very demanding. From raising capital to keeping the company growing, owning a business can be very challenging. Konefal found a way to get RisingHy started on his own and that’s the way he prefers it.

“I saved my earnings after college and invested it into RisingHy, which has been 100 percent self-funded. It’s much more rewarding knowing we did it ourselves and we are growing one step at a time to get to where we want to be,” said Konefal. “I have expanded our line to five sauces, an extra virgin olive oil, some seasonal sauces and I’m working on a BBQ sauce. I also bought a tortilla business in Flagstaff and have a food truck.”

RisingHy is locally owned by Mike Konefal and based in Flagstaff, Arizona. While attending Northern Arizona University, Mike was given a hot sauce kit as a gift and began experimenting. Roommates and neighbors were put through many trial batches and Habanero experiments in order to help Mike perfect his recipe and the end result Habanero Hot sauce was born.

Mike decided to try his hand in the business world and formed RisingHy in 2005.
