TAKII 18 Comes Alive This Holiday Weekend!

UPPER DARBY, Pa. - Dec. 22, 2014 - PRLog -- We've made our lists & checked them twice. Now the time has come to find out who truly has been naughty or nice when TAKII 18 ~Brand New World~ comes to town this holiday weekend! And not a moment too soon, Team TAKII has finally made its Hardcore Handbook ready for download (http://takii.pdnmz.com/registration.html#hardcore_handbook). The Handbook (contained in everyone's Hardcore Handbag) is your key to celebratory awesomeness for TAKII! It's just like any other programming book you would find at other like-minded functions/conventions, but it's value is unmatched in the realm of Asian-themed fandom. Featuring guest & performer bios, event schedules, autograph panels, & other TAKII-exclusive sexiness, it's the perfect compliment to everyone's fusion festival experience. Everyone is encouraged to print out a copy of the Hardcore Handbook prior to their arrival, as Collectors Editions (for pre-reggers) & standard style versions of this guide would be available at-the-door in limited quantities.

A huge component of our fusion festival's purpose this season was to expand our reach (to the stars above, of course ^_*) when it came to our TAKII World Tour. We wanted to be able to offer a wider range of programming that wasn't already available during a typical iteration of The Asian Karaoke Idol Invitational, with Philly's Next Top Cosplayer arguably being the highlight of our Tour in 2014. The winner of "Philadelphia's 1ST-EVER reality show-based cosplay competition", Koralene Cosplay (http://takii.pdnmz.com/guests-performers/brand-new-debuts.html#koralene), will be one of TAKII 18's "Brand-New Debuts" & summed up her experience with our show beautifully, saying: "If anything can be said about this reality show, it's that TAKII has done something incredibly amazing & special for all of the cosplayers out there. I'll absolutely be supporting The Asian Karaoke Idol Invitational in any way I can & plan to represent the title of Philly's Next Top Cosplayer in a manner that would do the organization proud, make other cosplayers aspire to follow in my footsteps, & get our fandom to fall in love with the art of cosplay all over again. Being involved in the competition made me feel great & excited & gave me the opportunity to reach out to people & make new friends in a style I previously thought was impossible. Winning Philly's Next Top Cosplayer has been a true highlight in my life & has served as a spring board for my creativity, encouraging me to push my cosplaying boundaries to the extreme." Speaking of our TAKII World Tour, fusion festival fanatics will be able to take a sneak peek of KPOP-alypse-KON (http://amen.pdnmz.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=140) during TAKII 18 weekend! The very 1st true "convention" The Asian Karaoke Idol Invitational has produced, KPK is also "Philly's 1ST-EVER Korean pop culture convention" & will be a weekend-long celebration of the Hallyu Wave come April 2015. The staff of KPOP-alypse-KON has already made a huge splash in the K-Pop fandom scene, announcing some blockbuster guests (Jungmin & Gemini) & spearheading a very ambitious fundraising drive ( viewtopic.php?f=140&t=449 (http://amen.pdnmz.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=140&t=449) ), all within the span of less than a month. However, there are a few "extras" they have up their sleeve that are to be shared EXCLUSIVELY with TAKII 18 ~Brand New World~ attendees BEFORE ANYONE ELSE!! Could it be more performer announcements? Or how about the long-awaited details on KPK pre-registration? You'll have to wait until after Santa's visited you house to find out (^_^).

TAKII 18 ~Brand New World~, as much as it is covering "new territory" for us, it's also the ultimate throwback season. For almost 10 years, The Asian Karaoke Idol Invitational has been the ultimate "lil convention that could" story. From our humble beginnings inside of a small room at the William Way LGBT Community Center to our current digs at The Rotunda, we have brought smiles to many thousands of people who came to our crazy lil festivals twice a year (not to mention the countless others we have met during our travels on the TAKII World Tour). This season, we'll be flying by the seat of our pants, giving you LIIIIIIFE as we give birth to new local stars on the fandom scene, spotlight causes that are close to everyone's hearts, & cherish the emotional intimacy that has made this festival such an integral part of the communities that we live in. While we might have broken the news a few weeks ago about TAKII expanding into a 3-day celebration (along with going through the process of obtaining the permits required to have free reign over THE ENTIRE ROTUNDA BUILDING), we promise to NEVER forget who we are at our core. And if you need to know what exactly that "core" is, just close your eyes & look inside of yourselves....because that is where the passion of The Asian Karaoke Idol Invitational burns the brightest.
