Author Releases Inspirational Memoir

SUFSIDE, Fla. - Dec. 29, 2014 - PRLog -- Born in a small village on the outskirts of Madrid and eventually relocating to the U.S., author Eva Blanco has lived a life filled with challenges. Now her new book, Ohana: Happiness is a Choice, chronicles her difficult journey and ongoing struggles to control breast cancer, maintain her relationships with her children, and develop a richer, more positive life.

“‘Ohana’ means family,” writes Blanco. “Even as a child eager to leave my village, I always knew it was at the heart of life. Whenever I was fighting for my family – and for myself – I knew I was fighting for ohana.”

Blanco was always the rebel in her family, and she reaped the consequences of many early actions. As a young woman she moved to Madrid and then to London and back again to Madrid. During this period she married and divorced and gave birth to a daughter. She then moved to Los Angeles and Florida, where she met a man who was addicted to alcohol and drugs. He led her into his dark world and became the father of her son.

A second man in Florida appeared to be the answer to all Blanco’s desires for love and stability. She and her children began living with him and he eventually fathered a daughter. Blanco was involved with him for many years, during which she confronted ongoing addiction, mental illness (his), a devastating diagnosis of breast cancer, and a protracted legal fight for her younger daughter.

The facts of Blanco’s life are difficult, but the way she handled them gives courage to anyone currently lost. It helps readers face the difficulties of breast cancer and especially the red flags in toxic relationships.

“I am making my story public with one objective in mind,” explains Blanco. “I hope that my readers in situations such as the ones described will learn from my mistakes, pay attention to the warning signs, and if you find it difficult to leave an abusive relationship for yourselves, please do so for your children.”

Blanco is planning to produce a video with the book and eventually to travel and give talks about her experiences.

About the Author
Blanco currently resides in the United States. She has worked as a personal trainer, legal assistant and later owned her own private investigative agency. To write this book, Blanco relived the bitter past she had left behind. Her cancer is under control (Stage IV never goes into remission) and she continues to help her children through their ongoing pain.
