Free Resize Partition in Windows Server 2008

Windows Server 2008 built-in Disk Management tool can extend or shrink volume, which  brings the users gospel. That’s to say, you can extend a partition into contiguous unallocated space that locates at the next side. So when the C drive of Windows Server 2008 shows the problem of low disk space, you could extend C drive with built-in disk management to optimize your computer.

Although the built-in disk management of Windows Server 2008 was added more partition functions, it can not move volume when there is no unallocated space on the next side, so it couldn’t resize partition and we had better choose a third-party to resize partition – AOMEI Partition Assistant Lite Edition. This free partition software brings many different disk management features which can largely meet the needs of most Windows Server users. Let me introduce how to use it:

Step1:Starting Partition Assistant Lite Edition. An intuitive interface appears in front of you. It is clear at a glance. Now right click D partition and choose "Resize Partition".

Step2:Drag the right slider bar as the following picture In the pop-up window, click "OK" to realize this change. In this way, D partition has been shrunk.

TIP: After shrinking, the unallocated space behind D partition must be larger than it. Otherwise, the next step can't be realized.

Step3: Right click D partition, select "Move Partition", and pop-up window will turn up again. Then drag the arrow to the right side. Click "OK", the unallocated space will be moved to the location behind C drive.

Step4: Next resize C drive and the steps are same with resizing D partition.(Note: see step2).

Step 5: This time, C partition has been expanded. Finally, click "Apply" on the toolbar to achieve the operation.
