The 15th Annual California Maritime Leadership Symposium To Honor Jacobsen Pilot Service, Inc

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Jan. 8, 2015 - PRLog -- Each year, the California Maritime Leadership Symposium recognizes the outstanding efforts and contributions of individuals and organizations within the maritime industry. The organizing committee of the 2015 Symposium recently announced Jacobsen Pilot Service, Inc. (JPS) as the 2015 Honoree of Merit. The company will be honored during a special reception held on Tuesday, February 24^th in the California State Capitol Building Rotunda for attendees of the 2015 California Maritime Leadership Symposium.

The Honoree of Merit Award is bestowed each year upon an individual or organization that has made a significant and demonstrable contribution to the Maritime Transportation System in the State of California.  As the 2015 Honoree, Jacobsen Pilot Service, Inc. will be recognized for 91 years of leadership in pilotage, customer service, technology, and innovation.

Today, as the only contracted piloting company for the Port of Long Beach, JPS pilots move an average of 7,000 ships per year—including some of the largest container ships and oil tankers in the world—containing cargo valued at more than $180 billion. The company prides itself on acting as a partner with the Port, helping to keep Long Beach number one on the West Coast.

As part of the Symposium’s annual tradition, JPS will be formally honored during a special reception among an audience of policymakers, port executives, maritime industry leaders and transportation planners. The honor will be presented by California State Senator Ricardo Lara, the 2015 California Maritime Leadership Symposium Legislative Chair.
