SAN JOSE, Calif. - Jan. 10, 2015 - PRLog -- San Jose, Calif., author Sharon E. Cathcart's sophomore novel, "In The Eye of The Storm: A Novel of the Phantom of the Opera," has been nominated for best fan fiction in the 2015 Global eBook Awards.

The book, sequel to Cathcart's 2009 novel, "In The Eye of The Beholder: A Novel of the Phantom of the Opera," continues the story of the LeMaître family.  Claire Delacroix has married Erik LeMaître, the notorious Phantom, but there are still challenges ahead of them as they have a family together.

Cathcart touches on the 1906 San Francisco earthquake, the Parisian modern art movement, the Chinese Exclusion Act, and other historical events as she takes the family into a third generation.

"I am passionate about history," Cathcart said, "and I wanted to use my characters to bring it to life.  I've lived in the San Francisco Bay area for 30 years now, and I wanted to incorporate some of the rich heritage of the region into the story.  How Claire and her family come to San Francisco and what happens there were some of my favorite parts of the tale to create."

Cathcart was a 2013 double-nominee in the Global eBook Awards for her novelette, "The Rock Star in the Mirror."  Her short fiction collection, "Through the Opera Glass," was the 2014 runner-up for in its category of the eFestival of Words Independent Book Awards.
