Follow on Google News | Open Call On Bahamas Government To Rectify Telecommunications SystemDr. Daisy Johnson calls on The Bahamas Government To Rectify BTC System In The Country.
By: Bahamian Entrepreneurs For the past years, telephone users in The Bahamas have faced the worst telecommunications system in the world and there is absolutely no force in power to assist Bahamian Entrepreneurs and residents. A telephone is the life conduit of businesses and family life. Yet, we pay for service and are not able to receive same. While on the phone conducting business locally and worldwide, the calls are “dropped”. Callers are now accustomed to having dropped calls when conducting business with Bahamas. Whether conferencing with Bahamian businesses, individuals or internationally, it is the same. Dropped calls or not being able to make contact. One would think that there is some organization or company out there in the universe that BTC can contact to assist with this frequent interruption of calls. This is a serious matter but the government organization URCA has its head in the sand and the elected officials from both political parties have not done a single thing since these problems started many years ago. This week alone, my mother complained that she has tried contacting me by 2 different cell phones and line but to no avail. My attorney sent me an email and asking if our phones were working. Scotland businesses complained that they have tried contacting us ten times in one day but on every occasion it states that either the number is not recognized or the customer cannot accept your call at this time. This not a once in a life time dilemma, it is a continual thing that has happened for years and despite modern technology, the telecommunications system in the Bahamas leaves us on par with Africa in 1809. This is a call on The Government Of The Bahamas, URCA and Bahamas Telecommunications Corporation to assist the Bahamas with our telephone system as it is the major manner in which we conduct business. We as Bahamian Entrepreneurs would like to compete in the world of business and without a competent telephone system we cannot do this. We would also like to stay in touch with our loved ones wherever they are located on the 700 islands of The Bahamas. End
