DISTRICT HEIGHTS, Md. - Feb. 5, 2015 - PRLog -- The First Baptist Church of District Heights is hosting the “Saving Our Sons” Town Hall on Saturday, Feb. 21, 2015, at noon to provide a platform for young men ages 13-35 to voice their concerns on matters of police interactions and overcoming issues, such as poverty, race, and class, often found in urban communities.

“Young men have been at the heart of many conversations in light of the events that occurred over the last few months in Ferguson and New York, but very few groups are talking directly with them,” said Pastor Bobby Manning, the 32-year-old leader of the First Baptist Church of District Heights. “We want to provide a judgment-free zone where we can have a no holds barred conversation with our young men and they can express their thoughts, feelings and emotions in an open and honest way.”

The forum will also include a small panel of civic and community leaders who are actively engaged with their local community and want to hear from the young men, respond to issues, and discuss practical solutions. Panelists include: Anthony Brown, former Lieutenant Governor of Maryland; Marcus “Snuggz” Gates, a member of Critical Condition Band; Chief Mark Magaw, Prince George’s County Police Department; Jimmy Jenkins, local filmmaker; Chris Paul, stand-up comedian & a member of The Tom Joyner Morning Show; and Camara Mintz, local criminal defense attorney. Pastor Manning will moderate the discussion.
