African Americans Promote Yoga in Durham

Community Event to be Held in Celebration of Black History Month 2015

DURHAM, N.C. - Feb. 10, 2015 - PRLog -- In an effort to promote the healing benefits of yoga to Triangle communities of color, a group of African American yoga instructors will hold the 2nd YOGA, BODY & SOUL event on Saturday, February 21, 2015, during Black History Month.

Created in 2011 by Durham yoga instructor Donna Fulcher, YOGA, BODY & SOUL is a fundraising event which connects African American yoga teachers with the local community, aims to increase the representation of people of color in yoga studios , and helps to raise funds for local organizations. The 2015 event will feature and Introduce more than a half dozen African American yoga instructors from around the Triangle. This year’s fundraising recipient will be Y.O.G.A. for Youth - NC. “I cannot think of a greater organization to be honored for their work with urban youth in Durham, Wake and Orange Counties,” says Donna Fulcher.

Sponsored by Power of Massage, the 2015 YOGA, BODY & SOUL event will be held at The Ark Dance Studio (http://yogabodysoul.blogspot.com/p/location.html) on Duke's east campus in Durham, NC.  1:00pm-5:00pm. There will be a meet and greet, community yoga class and light and healthy refreshments.  The cost of the event is $10. A portion of funds raised from this year’s event will be donated to Y.O.G.A. for Youth - NC (http://www.yogaforyouth.org/northcarolina/).
