Why Parents Choose EPIC Academy

"Our kids are being exposed to things that they would never be exposed to in a regular high school. The emphasis on college, career preparation and extra-curricular activities helps young people create a clear path to a successful career and the real world. I am most proud of how my son has grown from a goofy, shy little boy into a confident young man. EPIC did that for him--they challenged him and pulled out the potential that they saw that he couldn't see himself...

Over the years, I've watched this neighborhood struggle. There are so many young black males that are truly lost because they don't have positive role models in their lives. Coming to EPIC, there are always positive words and reinforcements. There's a lot of love and patience in this school. We have considered moving to a safer neighborhood, but the ONLY reason that we have stayed here is because I believe in EPIC Academy and Mr. King. I believe in this school because they support my son.

I don't have to worry about Tiqo trying to make it in life. I know that he will because of all that EPIC has instilled in him over these four years. They have given him every tool imaginable to make it in the world."

Since writing this letter, Tiqo has been accepted to his top three colleges--Tennessee State University, Middle Tennessee State University, and the University of Memphis.

Tiqo and his mom will be taking a trip over spring break to visit all three campuses and make his final decision. When asked how EPIC has helped him be successful, Tiqo explained:

"Without EPIC, I would not have known how to begin the college application process. To my mom, everything about college was a foreign language. Because of the huge support system at EPIC, my mom feels like she understands the application and financial aid process and I have more choices for my future."
