Follow on Google News | Tom Cunningham Band Kicks Off 2015 Bodhi Tree Concert SeriesBluegrass concert to benefit San Diego's homeless community.
The music ranges from popular classics like “Gentle On My Mind” and “The Boxer” to Bluegrass classics like “Foggy Mountain Breakdown” and “Freight Train Boogie” or maybe an old 60s song or two done with an acoustic string band sound and feel. You can expect some Country classics and Bluegrass Gospel songs in the mix as well. Throw in a fiddle tune and banjo number now and then and there you have it, a nice concert set most any music lover will enjoy. TCB has been together for many years in many forms! The latest member, bassist Gene Libbea joined a few years ago. Tom was quick to grab him after hearing that he had relocated to Southern California. “Here’s this bass player from one of my all time favorite bands and I get to have him in my band! Thrilled to say the least!” …..TC Gene was a member of The Nashville Bluegrass Band for 12 years. During that time he notched five Grammy nominations and two Grammys. He has recorded with Johnny Cash, Vince Gill, Earl Scruggs, Steve Earl, Ry Cooder and Clint Black just to name a few. Kevin Gore has been with TCB for several years. Kevin has played with some of Southern California’s best bluegrass bands including Silverado and The Witcher Brothers. He plays traditional Scruggs style as well as melodic banjo and has been a judge at The Topanga Canyon Banjo and Fiddle Contest for many years. “Kevin is a class act and one of the smoothest banjo players around, Im thrilled to have him”…TC. Mark Rounds "rounds" out the band on acoustic guitar. “He is a fantastic flat-picker, one of the finest you’ll hear and one of my best friends”…TC. The profits from this concert will be donated to Interfaith Shelter Network - a collaborative effort by local congregations, human services agencies and government entities to provide shelter, services, and resources to homeless San Diegans throughout the region.
