Door restoration business expands

Door Renew expands to service Ann Arbor, Chelsea, Dexter, Saline and Ypsilanti

ANN ARBOR, Mich. - Feb. 16, 2015 - PRLog -- While the local economy isn’t in high gear there are signs of improvement, especially in the local and small-business segment. Door Renew is just one example. Started 3 years ago the company is now expanding its service area to include Ann Arbor, Chelsea and Ypsilanti. According to Door Renew owner, John Eggenberger, the company specializes in restoring mahogany, oak, walnut, ponderosa pine as well as other wood and fiberglass entry doors. To see some before and after pictures visit http://www.doorrenew.com/results/  John pointed out that many of the products use by Door Renew are also used to restore classic, wood boats such as Chris Craft and Garwood. These products are very durable and provide outstanding UV protection. “We’ve found that the way most tradespeople refinish a door; a light sanding, applying a coat of gel stain and then using polyurethane as a finish coat just doesn’t last. It’s not uncommon for us to refinish a door that had been worked on by someone else within the past year. The high-end products we use will last for years.” Eggenberger also commented that the improvement in the economy, especially housing, has homeowners tackling repairs and maintenance that they had put off.  John explained that Door Renew does more than just door restoration. “We’ve done all sorts of things,” he said, “including refinishing tables, furniture, staining wood ceiling beams, replacing rooted wood in door frames, replacing weatherseal, installing new door hardware, fixing the fit of doors and painting doors just to name a few items.” One job that Door Renew didn’t handle were the huge bronze doors mentioned in this USA Today article: http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/news/religion/2007-10-12-bronze-door_N.htm
