NEW YORK - Feb. 20, 2015 - PRLog -- Winter Film Awards is proud to showcase "Love City Jalalabad" at the upcoming Indie Film Festival

The 4th Annual WINTER FILM AWARDS Independent Film Festival (http://winterfilmawards.com/2015-winter-film-awards-indie-film-festival-wfa2015/) runs Feb 25-28 2015 in New York City with 3 days of screenings, networking events and after-parties. The event offers something for everyone, highlighting the dynamic range of storytelling the independent filmmaking community has to offer. Among the 76 films selected is a diverse mix of documentaries, shorts, features, animation, music videos and horror films from all over the world!

The Yellow House in Jalalabad Afghanistan is certainly a most unusual artists’ space – the nerve center for a range of projects, including a traveling circus, a film skills workshops, a small school and indie filmmaking, all in the center of one of the most dangerous places on earth.

The House provides a safe space where artists from all mediums meet, work and create independently of the destructive forces that threaten their physical, psychological and spiritual being.  It was established in 2011 not far from the Pakistan border in a region where the Taliban have targeted artists, film-makers, musicians and those who exhibit and distribute the work.

Notorious Action Artist/Filmmaker George Gittoes and his partner Singer/Performance Artist Hellen Rose team up with a local group of struggling actors to collectively declare LOVE and ART on Jalalabad. This daringly wild ‘High Prankster style Super Doc’ LOVE CITY, JALALABAD (http://winterfilmawards.com/portfolio/love-city-jalalabad/) becomes deadly serious as George and his team act beyond killing with bombs and bullets and use art and music to sooth the savage beast of extremism.

LOVE CITY, JALALABAD screens on Friday, February 27 2015 at the Blue Diamond Theater (777 Eighth Avenue, NY NY 10036).  The screening block begins at 4pm with a series of short films, music videos and animated films from around the world.

Following the screening, join George and Hellen (via SKYPE), SVA Senior Lecturer David Ross and George’s cousin Nicole Tucker to talk about the film and their amazing project.
