Follow on Google News | Chicago Non-profit Hosts 5th Annual “Mothers in the Mills” BenefitBy: Puppy Mill Project “We want people to understand that the majority of those adorable puppies they find in a pet store or online come from a mother who is suffering right now,” says Cari Meyers, founder and president of The Puppy Mill Project. “Although there have been so many stories in the news the past couple of years about puppy mills and the pet store and Internet connection, too many people are still purchasing puppies that are the by product of mass breeding under inhumane conditions in these puppy mills.” The annual event increases awareness about puppy mills while raising funds for The Puppy Mill Project’s educational programs and Millie’s Mission, the groups fund that helps rescue organizations with the costs associated with rescuing pets from puppy mills. Paul Lisnek will be the emcee at this year’s event. Lisnek is the Political Analyst for WGN-TV and host of “Politics Tonight” on CLTV. In addition, he is the anchor of Newsmakers, which airs on HLN and “Broadway in Chicago Backstage” on the Comcast Network.
