After reviewing 121 entries – all photographs taken at Mounts of plant life, animal life, people in the Garden, scenic/landscapes, and nature close-ups – Guest Judge Alan Chin Lee, himself a professional nature photographer, selected the following for special recognition: Best in Show: Janet James of West Palm Beach for “White Lotus” Landscape: Crystal Samuel of Fort Pierce for “Through the Mediterranean Window” Plant Life: Melanie Valentine of West Palm Beach for “Canna Lilly” Animals in the Garden: Michael Wilson of Boynton Beach for “Zebra Longwing on Cosmos” People in the Garden: Dale Koppel of Lake Worth for “Looking Through Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow” For winning Best in Show , Janet James received a one-year Garden Lover Membership at Mounts. The first place in each category winners all received a complimentary gift certificate for an upcoming Mounts workshop. All entries in this year’s contest were submitted between January 25 and February 25, 2015, and will be used in various marketing vehicles for Mounts Botanical Garden, including program covers, Leaflet magazine, promotional postcards and on the website ( www.mounts.org ). About The Mounts Botanical Garden of Palm Beach County: With a mission to inspire the public, Mounts Botanical Garden is Palm Beach County’s oldest and largest botanical garden, offering gorgeous displays of tropical and sub-tropical plants, plus informative classes, workshops, and other fun-filled events. The Garden contains more than 2,000 species of plants, including Florida native plants, exotic and tropical fruit trees, herbs, palms, bromeliads and more.
