There are many possible causes of a headache and treatment usually begins with the administration of an analgesic such as Tylenol.

Headaches are put into two classifications: primary and secondary. Primary headaches include migraines, tension headaches, stabbing headaches, exertion headaches and cluster headaches. Secondary headaches are the result of head or neck trauma such as whiplash after a car accident.

Primary headaches present with a pulsating pain, they can affect one or both sides of the head, and can last from 3 hours to a few days.
