Academy of Medical Technology’s Jose Merced Honored at United Hospital Fund Awards Luncheon

Award Recognizes Partnership with St. John’s Episcopal Hospital
 
NEW YORK - March 22, 2015 - PRLog -- FAR ROCKAWAY, NY (MARCH 23, 2015) – Jose Merced,founding principal of the Academy of Medical Technology (AMT) in Far Rockaway, was among the 70 volunteers and auxilians honored at the United Hospital Fund’s 22nd annual Hospital Auxilian & Volunteer Achievement Awards on March 13. Mr. Merced was nominated for the award by St. John’s Episcopal Hospital (http://www.ehs.org) in recognition of the partnership he established to provide volunteer opportunities at the hospital for AMT students.

Held at The Waldorf Astoria Hotel in Manhattan, the awards luncheon recognized volunteers and auxilians who provide essential services to hospitals throughout the New York metropolitan area.

The mission of the Academy of Medical Technology (AMT) is to provide exciting opportunities for students to gain the knowledge and skills they need to become health care professionals. The school prepares students for college and provides clinical experiences, understanding of health care career options, and the opportunity to interact with health care professionals.

AMT students currently serve as volunteers in the Emergency Department, Pediatrics, Executive Offices, Mission and other key areas.
