Held at The Waldorf Astoria Hotel in Manhattan, the awards luncheon recognized volunteers and auxilians who provide essential services to hospitals throughout the New York metropolitan area. The mission of the Academy of Medical Technology (AMT) is to provide exciting opportunities for students to gain the knowledge and skills they need to become health care professionals. The school prepares students for college and provides clinical experiences, understanding of health care career options, and the opportunity to interact with health care professionals. AMT students currently serve as volunteers in the Emergency Department, Pediatrics, Executive Offices, Mission and other key areas. About St. John’s Episcopal Hospital St. John’s Episcopal Hospital, the cornerstone of Episcopal Health Services, is the only full-service acute care hospital in The Rockaways. Celebrating 110 years of community care in 2015, the 240-bed facility provides people of all faiths with comprehensive preventive, diagnostic, treatment and rehabilitative services, regardless of ability to pay. Key programs serving the Rockaways, southern Queens County and southwestern Nassau County include an Emergency Department with 45,000 patient visits annually, a growing minimally invasive surgery program, obstetrics and gynecology, imaging, behavioral health, pediatrics, wound care and dialysis. St. John’s Episcopal Hospital is fully accredited by The Joint Commission and is a teaching affiliate of SUNY Downstate Medical Center and Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine.
