Follow on Google News | Service K-9 Clinic Joins Ovarian Cancer Symptom Awareness Organization's Veterinary Outreach ProgramBy: Ovarian Cancer Symptom Awareness Organization Highly-respected veterinary industry professionals including Deborah Lakamp, interim executive director for the Illinois State Veterinary Medical Association and Roger Mahr, DVM and past CEO for the One Health Commission, who spoke at the ceremony alongside leaders of OCSA including board president Marcy Twardak and executive director Vallie Szymanski. A formal ribbon cutting took place prior to a clinic tour and reception. Guests included local law enforcement leaders with their K-9 partners and other influential supporters of the nonprofit and members of the community. Each year, over 20,000 women in the U.S. are diagnosed with ovarian cancer and approximately 14,000 women die from the disease. There is an urgent need to share the silent symptoms so early detection and treatment are achieved, and lives are saved. OCSA's VOP is a collaborative effort designed to open new channels of communication about ovarian cancer by educating veterinary clinic leaders on the benefits of sharing the silent symptoms of ovarian cancer with thier pet owning clients.
