Three winners will be announced and awarded from each category: · 1st place, $50 gift card · 2nd place, $25 gift card · 3rd place, $10 gift card. When Cesar began building the farm worker movement five decades ago, he knew it would take a strong union to address the economic injustices workers suffer at the workplace. A traditionalist and a visionary, Cano has both mirrored and shaped the history of mariachi music. He was born in 1933 into a family of mariachi musicians in Jalisco, Mexico, one of the many west Mexican communities that gave life to the mariachi tradition. His career took him first to nearby Guadalajara, Mexico’s second largest city, and then further away to Los Angeles. In Los Angeles, he and Los Camperos emerged as a major driving force of the mariachi music tradition in the United States. Los Camperos de Nati Cano has existed for over 50 years and is noted for demanding musical arrangements that highlight the individual skills and voices of the players. The ensemble employs the finest musicians from Mexico and the United States and has performed for audiences worldwide. The group consist of boys and girls of all ages who want to learn how to move to Latin music such as Samba, Punta, Merengue, Belly dance, Cumbia, and Banchata. The group has 3 levels. The first level is for the smaller kids who are begging to develop the skill of dancing and learning choreography. The second level is for the kids who learn choreography a bit faster and can move a bit more. The third group usually consist of older kids that are able to dance in couples and catch on fast to choreography. This team travels to Vegas during the summer for the annual World Folk Festival. Passion Latina has received awards in that competition and in other competitions. During the winter time, Pasion Latina participates in the Christmas parades in cities such as Huntington Park, Downey, Lynwood, and Compton.
