By: INSPR Media The three-day summit held during Women's History Month included a wide range of activities with participants going to meet with lawmakers on Capitol Hill March 26th, and forums, meetings and other activities at the Crystal City Gateway Marriott. Highlights from the Summit Include: · Release of the Black Women’s Roundtable report “Black Women in the US in 2015.” The report is the second in an annual series that will utilize data from a wide range of government and private sources to provide a broad view of the lives of Black Women in America at this critical juncture. You can upload the report at http://ncbcp.org/ · A march to Capitol hill in support of the confirmation of Loretta lynch as the next U.S. attorney general followed by a public policy luncheon attended by several members of the Congressional Black Caucus including Congresswoman Yvette Clarke (D-NY), Eddie Bernice Johnson (D-TX) and Congresswoman Stacy Plaskett (D-VI). · Panels on economic and social justice, criminal justice and entrepreneurship with a special briefing from the White House. Speakers included Teresa Younger from the Ms. Foundation. · A separate track of activities for girls 14 to 17 which focused on technology and economic and civic empowerment. BWR promotes health and wellness, economic security and sustainability, education and global empowerment. The National Coalition, founded in 1976, creates and enlightens communities by building institutional capacity that provides and develops leadership. By educating, motivating, organizing, and mobilizing Black communities, the National Coalition seeks to encourage full participation in a barrier-free democratic process.
