Garza joined Christopher J. Banks, partner at Morgan Lewis & Bockius LLP, to present an MCLE course sponsored by The Bar Association of San Francisco, on April 13, 2015. The MCLE discussion titled “Working with a Computer Forensic Expert in Civil Litigation” (http://www.sfbar.org/calendar/eventdetail.aspx?id=G151630/G151630) addressed the role of forensics in litigation, including issues such as:

·         How to effectively direct forensic analysis in cases of computer intrusion, theft of trade secrets and employment cases

·         Exploiting probative data sources such as email messages, Facebook, and Twitter posts

·         Recovery of latent data residing on laptops, desktops and other devices or systems normally missed in the discovery process

Today’s General Counsel will present the Data Privacy Cyber Security Forum (http://www.todaysgeneralcounsel.com/institute/cyber-san-f...) on April 27-28 at the Bar Association Conference Center.   Peter Garza will serve as a faculty member and forensics expert in this interactive roundtable style discussion of security challenges facing organizations today, including next generation threat detection, liability and risk management, and FTC action on data de-identification, data brokers, data sharing across borders and mobile location tracking.

“It is important to include a computer forensics expert early as part of the case team to effectively leverage computer evidence and to manage costs.” said Garza. “Our goal in these sessions is to help attorneys understand how computer forensics fits into the litigation process while addressing privacy protection, as well as the role of computer forensics in locating, collecting, analyzing and presenting digital evidence in response to litigation or government investigations.”
