Follow on Google News | New Book launched “A Guide to Gemstones and Rocks”Longshot Ventures launches an exciting new book “A Guide to Gemstones and Rocks” by Tagore Ramoutar. Most gemstone books are written for adults, this is written for 8-14 year olds. It is packed with interesting facts.
By: Longshot Ventures Publishing As a child the author loved rocks and gems, he even had a stone polisher. He always wanted to learn more, however he could never find any good reference books that were written for children. Now the author is an adult and has two children who also are fascinated by rocks and gems. In (primary school) year three they both had to do projects on stones. Again finding good reference books was very difficult. This book is the book the author wishes he had as a child and the book that his children wanted when they were investigating rocks for school. The guide is designed for 8-14 year olds and covers over 30 gemstones and rocks. It has full colour photographs and descriptions plus a map of the UK showing where to find gemstones. It includes explanations and definitions that will encourage a child’s learning and provide a great foundation of knowledge. The book is perfect for children doing research for school projects and is a great accompaniment to the UK year 3 curriculum. The book is also suitable for older children who want to find out more about gemstones. “A Guide to Gemstones and Rocks” has sections on: Types of Rocks; definitions of Minerals and Gemstones; Semi-Precious Stones photos, descriptions, where to find and how formed; Organic Gems/ Other Interesting Stones photos, descriptions, where to find and how formed; Precious Stones photos, descriptions, where to find and how formed; Birthstones; THE AUTHOR Tagore has written one other book for the 8-14 year old age range “Amazing London” that was successfully launched last year. He is also the author of a range of books for the under sevens, published under the name “Eric and Rufus Children’s Books”. Eric and Rufus Children‛s Books strive to encourage children to explore the real and natural world via the use of books featuring photos of real things. The books seek to encourage outdoor exploration and learning by linking things they see and hear in books with things they can experience in real life outdoors. A head teacher has said “they are the best non-fiction books for the under sevens”. End
