Russ Dugger Gets One More Last Chance at Talladega

OWASSO, Okla. - April 23, 2015 - PRLog -- Russ Dugger did not leave Daytona International Speedway a happy man.

Making what was to be his last start as a professional driver in a top-tier series, a combination of the new group qualifying format introduced by ARCA at this year's February race and a larger-than-expected gap in performance between the two engine packages, Dugger found himself on the outside looking in.

But that would not be the end of the story.

The RDR team - which some people think only extends to the driver, crew chief, and mechanics - were insistent upon seeing Dugger's farewell involve taking the checkered flag at a superspeedway.  For RDR, the "team" has always extended to family, sponsors, and the close friends they've made of fans.  Before the hauler had even left the DIS infield, options were being considered and plans were being hatched.

Fast forward ten weeks, and Dugger is finalizing travel arrangements to the heart of Alabama where the longest oval track in the country is waiting to be tamed by drivers in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards, because he's going to be part of the action.

RDR is also proud to announce that the Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS which Dugger will be driving will also carry an in-car camera, which offers fans watching on TV a great chance at seeing a unique perspective of their favorite driver throughout the broadcast.

As always, Dugger is proud to represent only Oklahoma organizations and companies on the national motorsports stage.  Tanda Racing, a kart racing organization based in Norman, Oklahoma will be the primary sponsor for Dugger's entry for the Talladega race, highlighting their "Promoting Youth In Motorsport" mission.

"I've remained close to the karting scene personally for some time, and have gotten more involved with my own children as they've grown up.  Tanda is an Oklahoma-based team that I've begun working with more closely, and they have a mission I believe in firmly.  It's great to bring attention to the very important idea of involving kids in motorsports," said Dugger.

For this race, two Tulsa-based companies are coming on-board as associate sponsors.  Ellsworth Construction and Currington Mortgage Company have been instrumental in getting Dugger back to the track.  "Being introduced to Steve Currington has been quite a privilege.  He has an amazing attitude and is extremely passionate about his work," said Dugger.  "I'm both proud and excited to have SteveCurrington.com on-board.  His enthusiasm is infectious, and has to be worth at least 10 horsepower."
