Our Val Caron facility has seen a great deal of enhancements over the past few years with the improved comfort and seating, the addition of many new electronic gaming formats including electronic bingo and our TapTix break-open gaming units being added to our offerings,” adds Sivret. “Our mission is to offer the best-in-class electronic gaming for existing and new customers at our Sudbury and Val Caron locations,” comments Sivret. Boardwalk Gaming Val Caron held its 25th anniversary event on April 16. In its 25-year history the Val Caron facility has financially supported over 55 local charities annually. MP Claude Gravelle and representatives from some of the community charities were on hand to receive a 30-million-dollar mock cheque that represented what Boardwalk Gaming has raised for local charities in Val Caron in its 25 years in business. Don and Karen Labreche, founding partners of Valley Bingo, now Boardwalk Gaming Val Caron, were honoured at the event for their vision and unwavering dedication to the community and its local charities. The pair was presented a plaque in their honour by manager Denis Sivret and a gift of appreciation on behalf of the Charitable Gaming Association. When we asked Boardwalk Gaming patrons what the most appealing aspect of the Val Caron facility is, the answer that was most said was the social element of the gaming experience. Many patrons commented that the staff are super-friendly and it feels like everyone knows your name. Sivret comments that the people who go to Val Caron site really adopt it like a “Cheers,” he says, referencing the American sit-com in a Boston bar. Greg Arseneau, Facility Manager for the Val Caron site, also believes that new and returning patrons come for the social aspect of bingo and electronic gaming that Boardwalk has to offer. “We’ Boardwalk Gaming Val Caron employs over fifty full-time and part-time staff annually. Sylvia Makarec can’t imagine working anywhere else except Boardwalk Gaming. The 20-year-veteran employee used to be a medical secretary in Toronto. When she returned home to Sudbury in 1989, she needed a job. She recalls how she would go to what was then Valley Bingo; when a job came up, she applied and was hired that day. She began as Café Supervisor; and now she is a Session Manager. “I love it here. From the day I walked in customers were coming up to me, sharing their stories with me. I was the go-to-person. I love looking after things,” she says “Staff, customers, and owners alike make this feel like a second family, a home away from home,” Makarec says. In the early days in Val Caron at Valley Bingo, the gaming facility hosted one session per day, now 25 years later, there are plenty of options for an evening of entertainment every night of the week – they offer four games during the week and Sundays and five on Fridays and Saturdays with the chance to win up to $35,000 in daily cash prizes. It is evident after touring the Boardwalk Gaming Val Caron facility- it’s no longer your Grandma’s bingo of long ago–it’s been replaced with modern, electronic, highly interactive gaming that offers a great entertainment value for adults of all ages. -30- Boardwalk Gaming (http://www.boardwalkgaming.com/ For more information contact: OLG Media Line 1.888.946.6716 Denis Sivret Nathalie Dubé General Manager Charity Coordinator Boardwalk Gaming Centre Val Caron Charity Gaming Assoc.
