By: Mary's Meals Published by HarperCollins, the book charts the charity’s remarkable journey as it moves closer to the milestone of feeding one million children every school day. Currently the charity is feeding 989,791 children every school day across 12 countries. In The Shed That Fed A Million Children, Magnus tells how a series of miraculous circumstances, and an overwhelming display of little acts of love from those around him, led to the creation of the charity; an organization that could hold the key to eradicating child hunger altogether. Cardinal Dolan described Magnus’ book as a demonstration of the power of God’s love. He said: “Jesus teaches us that the greatest of all virtues is charity, and that the spirit of charity is motivated by generosity, sacrifice, and loving our neighbour as ourselves. “The Shed that Fed a Million Children is a great testament to the wonderful things that can be accomplished when people work together to share God’s love and reach out to those in need. It’s a modern day miracle of the multiplication of the loaves and fish!" Magnus, said: “I am amazed that someone as busy and with such huge responsibilities as Cardinal Dolan would take the time to read my book and just thrilled that he then wrote such a moving comment about it. “I agree with him that the story of Mary's Meals is indeed a kind of miracle, or even a series of miracles. That is one of the reasons I enjoyed writing the book so much.” Magnus was recently named as one of TIME Magazine’s 100 most influential people in the world for 2015, alongside Pope Francis, whose category endorsement was written by Archbishop Desmond Tutu. Magnus met with Pope Francis in 2013 after being invited to Rome, presenting him with a blue Mary’s Meals mug. A former salmon farmer from Argyll in Scotland, Magnus was recognised for his charity’s work in setting up school feeding projects in some of the world’s poorest communities. Mary’s Meals sets up and runs school feeding programmes in communities where hunger and poverty prevent children from gaining an education. By providing one daily meal in a place of learning, children are attracted to the classroom where they can gain an education – which can be their ladder out of poverty in the future. The Shed That Fed A Million Children will be published on May 21st (May 26th in the USA and Canada) and can be pre-ordered from Amazon. End
