By: Pet Pantry Warehouse Pet Pantry Executive Vice President, Adam Jacobson, explained "Pet Pantry is a community driven family business and we’ve been hosting local events for many years at our other locations.” Pet Pantry created a Halloween event in Greenwich called Howl and Prowl©, that has become a staple town event every October for the last 8 years and the Pet Pantry will host the first New Canaan Howl and Prowl© this year. Jacobson went on to state “these events bring our communities together and we're honored to have the opportunity to continue the annual Dog Days of Summer event in New Canaan. I really encourage all to join because we're taking this year’s event to the next level.” New activities and contests have been designed to allow attendees to fundraise during Dog Days and prizes will be awarded to the winning participants. A DJ, petting zoo, pony rides and kids’ activity tent will also entertain the crowd at this year’s event along with games and pet care advice from the experts. Dog Days leading sponsors Weruva (www.weruva.com) "Artemis is dedicated to providing not only healthy pet food but promoting a whole-life approach to caring for animals. We believe that achieving a balance of all parts - all aspects of an animal's life - enables them to thrive. We believe our retailers also encompass these values and we're proud to partner with the Pet Pantry Warehouse in New Canaan and sponsor the 6th Annual Dog Days of Summer event." Brian Gordiski from Adopt-A-Dog praised the pet supply retailer for its regular fundraising support. “Pet Pantry Warehouse is a longtime Adopt-A-Dog benefactor, without their support we wouldn't have the ability to care for the amount of rescues we take in throughout the year. Gordiski also said that attendees will have the opportunity to meet some of the organizations rescue dogs. “We're all excited for this event and look forward to introducing some of our wonderful four legged friends”. Contest details and more information about New Canaan Dog Days of Summer can be found on Facebook at /NewCanaanDogDays and on the Adopt-A-Dog website (www.adoptadog.com) # # # BEST IN SHOW CONTESTS AND ACTIVITIES Attendees can support local rescue organizations by participating in a variety of “Best in Show” contests! Pre-register online at (adoptadog.org) “Family Resemblance” It’s a strange phenomenon that happens all too often. . . when pet owners start to resemble their pets (or is it the other way around?). Whether you share the same silky coat or a big wet nose, pet and owner pairs will be judged on how closely they resemble each other. “Best lap dog” Does your dog love to sit on your lap? Big or small, come and compete for the best lap dog in New Canaan. “Best kisser” Is your dog a neat smoocher or a big, wet slobbery kisser? Come and compete for the title of New Canaan’s Top Kisser! “Best trick” This contest is wide open, from balancing a treat on their nose to blowing their nose on command, bring your dog’s funny, wacky or virtuoso performance to the “best trick” contest and show it off. “Best Voice” Does your dog have a special bark, howl, or song that is done on command? This is the contest for you! “Musical Sits” Will your dog sit nicely on command? Enter the dog version of musical chairs. When the music stops, the last dog to sit is eliminated. (The dog must sit with a verbal command). “Art Exhibit” Activity Calling all young artists – come and sit in the activity tent and draw your favorite dog. If the artist chooses, their drawings can be entered into a juried art show for fun, prizes, ribbons and community recognition. ________ About Adopt-A-Dog: About Strays & Others: Strays and Others is a nonprofit, no-kill, all volunteer-run animal welfare rescue agency based in Fairfield County, Connecticut.
