Follow on Google News | Naperville CARES Welcomes New Board MemberSue Haines joins Naperville nonprofit's current Board of Directors
By: Naperville CARES “We are honored that Sue has agreed to join the board of Naperville CARES,” said Janet Derrick, Naperville CARES’ Executive Director, “Her compassion and experience as a volunteer with CARES, St. Vincent de Paul and Bridge Communities will enable her to provide valuable insights to the board about the obstacles faced by the neighbors we serve. Her business background also provides Sue with the skill set necessary to fulfill the fiduciary responsibilities of a CARES board member.” With a Bachelor of Arts in Finance and French from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Sue moved to Illinois for a financial operations management position with General Mills. Later, she left the company to focus on her family while volunteering at St. Michael Parish and as School Board President, Parent Board President and Auction Co-Chair. She also volunteered for the St. Vincent De Paul Society for ten years. Sue came to Naperville CARES in 2009 looking to service those in need and seeking one-on-one client interaction. Additionally she volunteers as a Transitional Housing Mentor for Bridge Communities for which she helps homeless families establish skills to become self-sufficient. She returned to General Mills in 2012. Sue and her husband, Tom, have two children and live in Wheaton. Sue said, “I am excited to be a part of the Naperville CARES Board. I will continue to volunteer with CARES' clients but I look forward to being a part of the organization at the Board level to further promote the mission of serving those in need.” Naperville CARES’ board supports the organization’ About Naperville CARES Headquartered in Naperville, IL, since 1999, Naperville CARES is where the community comes together to ensure all our neighbors have access to resources to meet their essential needs.
