Community Protest Led by the Mothers of Children Murdered By Chicago Police

CHICAGO - May 22, 2015 - PRLog -- According to the Chicago Reporter,  of the 441 police misconduct cases that led to city payouts between January 2009 and November 2011, 75 percent were related to excessive force and wrongful arrest, a third of those cases involved "repeaters" involved in several cases, where  millions of dollars in settlements, were spent on cases that still yielded not a single indictment or conviction. In light of the volatile relationship between the Chicago police and citizens, community leaders and several of the mothers of some of the many victims of police shootings will lead a community protest to present fair resolutions to the problem. Beginning at 2:30pm Saturday May, 23rd 2015 at the corner of California and Harrison, speakers for the protest will include congressional candidate Tio Hardiman, Chairman Fred Hampton Jr, Illinois State Senate Candidate Quavadis Green as well as the mothers of Roshad Mcintosh, Dakotah Bright, Rekia Boyd, Jeffery Kemp, Darius Pinex, Desean Pittman, Laquan Mcdonald, and Ronald Johnson.

The protest will proceed southbound on Roosevelt ending at the Federal building, with speakers demanding an investigation into all Chicago Police Murders, the immediate removal of Superintendent Garry Mccarthy, removal of any officer whose conduct  causes the city to pay large settlements making them a burden to taxpayers, The use of $20 million of the $100 million budget that is presently being used on Chicago Police overtime to be dispersed equally to neighborhoods to secure youth funding and lastly the start of a civilian police accountability council.
