The Old Saybrook Fire Dept. presents its 9th Annual Firefighters Competition & Free Family Fun Day

OLD SAYBROOK, Conn. - May 27, 2015 - PRLog -- The Heat is on!  The Old Saybrook Fire Dept. presents its 9th Annual Firefighters Competition & Free Family Fun Day  In Honor & Tribute to Past Chief David Heiney Sr.

Sunday, June 7, 2015  at Clark Memorial Field (Firemen's Field) at 210 Elm Street in Old Saybrook.

The event will begin at 9:00 a.m. sharp. until 2 p.m.

The volunteer fire department's daylong event, which is free and open to the public, will feature area local fire departments with over 2 dozen fire trucks from Westbrook, Old Lyme/ Lyme, Old Saybrook, Essex, Guilford, Deep River,  Clinton, Killingworth and Durham competing in color guard events, water ball events, a fire-suppression obstacle course, add-a-length fire hose events and water drafting, in addition to other activities.

In addition, food and beverage concessions will be available, as well as children's games and activities (besides them getting to see the firefighters play) featuring a Bounce house, Wet Water Slip & Slide, Dunk Booth, Speed Pitch, Obstacle Course, and free Cotton Candy, Popcorn, & Snow Cones!

The event will feature grand-stand seating, or those attending can bring their own seating and sunscreen!

Participating departments will have applications for those interested in joining their town's volunteer fire department.
