DJI Launches Matrice and Guidance

CUMMING, Ga. - June 12, 2015 - PRLog -- Cumming, GA-DJI has just released a series of products that will further their reach into the drone and UAV industry. Until now, the platforms that the manufacturer has been producing have been geared toward the film and photography enthusiasts. With the announcement of their recent addition to their array of products, it is easy to see that DJI is now entering the research and development market.

Their new platform, named “The Matrice 100” is a four-rotor platform that will offer DJI’s E800 motors, which would bring estimates on the size of the platform to be in the range of 700mm. The platform will offer what they’re calling “expansion bays” which DJI says, “allows you to add components, customize the payload, and fly with any devices you want”. The new system will also offer dual battery compartments, and boasts up to 40-minute flight times. Of course, flight times will be dependent on the load size that developers customize their machine with. The aircraft is customizable all the way down to balancing.

The Matrice 100 has options for parts that are also new to the already vast array of DJI products, one of which is called “Guidance”. Guidance is a revolutionary visual sensing system, otherwise known as sense-and-avoid technology. The new component offers a powerful processing core, integrated visual cameras, ultrasonic sensors, and “the most advanced computer algorithms in the world” Guidance has the ability to scan and detect obstacles in all directions. It boasts the ability to achieve hovering that is accurate to within centimeters. Even flying at high speeds, high-precision stereo algorithms provide positioning information over nearly any terrain. Guidance is fully compatible with the DJI SDK and supports numerous interfaces for easy data exporting. These options make the Matrix and Guidance combination more appealing for developers wanting to create customized applications.

Matrice 100 and Guidance are slated to release the 15th of June 2015.
