DALLAS - July 29, 2015 - PRLog -- In the Hebrew Bible, forty is often used as a measurement of time. For example, Jesus fasted forty days and forty nights in the Judean desert and forty days was the period of time from the resurrection of Jesus to His ascension. In 40 Daily Thoughts for the Christian Soldier (ISBN 978-0-9860866-8-7, $15.99, NyreePress), Edward Chisolm utilizes the number forty to represent a period of time for Christian Soldiers to take stock, take inventory of their lives, and more importantly, their relationship with God. Mr. Chisolm has a sharp focus on empowering African American Christians, specifically in this book, to " deal with the “brokenness” of people and families, and communities nearer to us, [so] we can have a positive effect on the whole of humanity.”' This collection of essays is serves as a tool to encourage Christians to apply the Word of God in a manner that will bring clarity and ultimately victory to their lives.

While many of the precepts and notions put forth in the volume can apply to any Christian anywhere, it is specifically written to resonate with the “black Christian” for reasons that will become evident as you read the book,” Mr. Chisolm says in his introduction. “This book is not designed to disregard or undermine the love, dedication, and spirit of all Christians,” he adds in a disclaimer. “It is true that the Body of Christ, the Church, is made up of individuals from across the span of humankind. However, my goal is to mimic the strategy of Nehemiah when he admonished the Jews to repair the wall in front of their houses. I firmly believe that if we were to deal with the “brokenness” of people and families, and communities nearer to us, we can have a positive effect on the whole of humanity.”  40 Daily Thought for the Christian Soldier is divided into four chapters, Black Soldiers-Men, Black Soldiers-Women, Black Soldiers-Youth, and Black Soldiers-Village.

As a youth advocate, Mr. Chisolm desires to help the youth develop a Christian worldview that will not only inform them on who they are, but equip them on how to walk circumspectly in this world.

“Mr. Chisolm does a phenomenal job at discussing important topics that I believe are essential in the Christian community,” says Kennisha Hill, the President and CEO of NyreePress. “He brings the balance of encouragement, solid biblical teaching and empowerment to teach Christians who are African American important principles that will help them become strong soldiers. This type of encouragement is critical, timely and essential in helping the black culture find healing, joy and peace in Jesus Christ.”
