New book helps black Christians gain strength and pursue a positive effect on the whole of humanity

DALLAS - July 29, 2015 - PRLog -- In the Hebrew Bible, forty is often used as a measurement of time. For example, Jesus fasted forty days and forty nights in the Judean desert and forty days was the period of time from the resurrection of Jesus to His ascension. In 40 Daily Thoughts for the Christian Soldier (ISBN 978-0-9860866-8-7, $15.99, NyreePress), Edward Chisolm utilizes the number forty to represent a period of time for Christian Soldiers to take stock, take inventory of their lives, and more importantly, their relationship with God. However, my goal is to mimic the strategy of Nehemiah when he admonished the Jews to repair the wall in front of their houses. I firmly believe that if we were to deal with the “brokenness” of people and families, and communities nearer to us, we can have a positive effect on the whole of humanity.”  40 Daily Thought for the Christian Soldier is divided into four chapters, Black Soldiers-Men, Black Soldiers-Women, Black Soldiers-Youth, and Black Soldiers-Village.

As a youth advocate, Mr. Chisolm desires to help the youth develop a Christian worldview that will not only inform them on who they are, but equip them on how to walk circumspectly in this world.

About the author:

Edward Chisolm was born into a family of four in 1959 in Hardeeville, South Carolina. He can be best described a warm, caring, kind and considerate person.  He is a humble man of God who loves the Lord. Edward is the extremely proud father of two beautiful adult children Corey (28) and Michelle (26).  Edward served 6 years in the U.S. Army as a Medical Specialist. He received the Expert Field Medical Badge; the highest peacetime honor awarded to a Medic.

Mr. Chisolm is currently the Executive Director of the Chatham Savannah Youth Futures Authority. Over the past 28 years, he has made helping and advocating on behalf of children, youth and families his life's mission. Edward is a former Annie E. Casey Fellow. He has a B.A Degree in Psychology from Talladega College (1983) and a Masters in Health Services Administration from Central Michigan University (1987). In his spare time, Edward enjoys watching movies, listening to music, watching sports, traveling, and of course studying and teaching God’s Word.
