DISTRICT HEIGHTS, Md. - July 29, 2015 - PRLog -- The First Baptist Church of District Heights is hosting the “Saving Our Sons” Town Hall – Part 2 on Saturday, Aug. 8, 2015, at noon to provide a platform for young men ages 13-35 to voice their concerns on matters of police interactions and overcoming issues such as crime, violence and lack of opportunities.

“There are a lot of groups having conversations about young men of color, but very few are including them in the discussion,” said Pastor Bobby Manning, the 33-year-old leader of the First Baptist Church of District Heights and author of the book “Saving Our Sons”. “Our goal is to provide a judgment-free zone where young men can express their thoughts, feelings and emotions in an open and honest way.”

The forum will also include a small panel of civic and community leaders who are actively engaged with their local community and want to hear from the young men, respond to issues, and discuss practical solutions. Panelists include: Angela Alsobrooks, State’s Attorney, Prince George’s County, MD; Marcus “Snuggz” Gates, a musician and entrepreneur; Tony Lewis Jr., local community leader; Camara Mintz, local criminal defense attorney; and Chris Paul, comedian and radio personality. Representatives from the Prince George’s County Police Department will also be available to answer questions. Pastor Manning will moderate the discussion.
