Follow on Google News | Hike it Baby Encourages Families to Keep Hiking OnFamily hiking organization helps 1400 families get out on the trails
By: Hike it Baby “I’m so excited about how the Hike On event turned out,” says 43-year old Hike it Baby Founder, and first time mom, Shanti Hodges. “I never expected we would meet our goal of 1000 families signing up, but to exceed it makes it even more awesome. It’s so rewarding to see families inspired to get out together.” The event marked the two year anniversary of the organization. Hike it Baby’s next event, the Hike it Baby 30 Challenge, will begin on September 1st and will invite families to hike 30 miles in 30 days. This is the fifth such challenge the group has organized. Hike it Baby hosts free hikes throughout the US, Canada, Australia, and Italy. Hike it Baby aims to help families minimize the effects of postpartum depression in new mothers (and fathers), create a network of like-minded individuals, encourage families to discover new parts of their cities and county, and teach children an appreciation for nature from the newborn stage on. The organization was founded in Portland Oregon in 2013 by Shanti Hodges and is run entirely by volunteers. Currently, there are 134 branches with over 43,000 members worldwide.
