Nashville Magician Brings Ghost The Musical To Life At The Art Center Of Cannon County

WOODBURY, Tenn. - Aug. 3, 2015 - PRLog -- Well known Nashville magician and theater director John B. Pyka has been tapped by the Art Center of Cannon County to design the special visual effects for their production of Ghost, The Musical which opens on Friday August 7^th.

Ghost, The Musical is a musical based on the popular movie that starred Demi Moore and the late Patrick Swayze. It tells the story of Sam Wheat, who is accidentally murdered for information worth over $10 million dollars. Throughout the story, Sam’s ghost tries to connect with the physical world to find his killer and protect Molly, the love of his life. Along the way, Sam must learn to affect the physical world from his spiritual plane of existence. To create those visual effects, Director Scarlett Turney recruited John Pyka, who is an actor, director, magic author (4 books), and 3 time champion of magic to create the illusions seen in Ghost, The Musical.

“I’m really excited to be a part of this project” says Pyka. “It’s not often (outside of my own shows) that I get to design and teach magic that moves the story along. To see it all come together is almost as magical to me as it is for the audience!”

One of the challenges the production faced was a finite budget, but one that John was able to overcome. “We didn’t have a multi-million dollar Broadway budget for special effects, so I had to really go back to the basic roots of magic to create visual effects that not only take your breath away, but move the story. It is very much an ‘old school’ approach, but I think audiences will love what they see.”

Ghost, The Musical stars John and Britney Goodwin as Sam and Molly, along with a dynamic ensemble cast that really brings the story to life!
