By: T Ellis Fine Art As a creative historian, Ellis is excited about his first trip to Martha’s Vineyard—a significant vacation spot for African Americans. While the HFAS runs is only three days, Ted will be on the island from August 9 – 22 painting some of the historical spots in Oak Bluffs, including the infamous “Inkwell”, The Heritage Trail, and Shearer Cottage. According to Congressman Randy Weber, “Ted’s artwork not only tells a story about the journey of our great nation but evokes a feeling of empowerment and hope.” Ellis’ mission is to inspire the same kind of emotion with the pieces he paints at Martha’s Vineyard, continuing his legacy of documenting key events, people and places in American history—specifically those relating to the rich culture of the African American experience. About Ted Ellis Ellis grew up and was educated in New Orleans, a city known for its rich African-American heritage history. Currently residing in Friendswood, Texas, Ellis is a self-taught artist who boldly blends realism and impressionism in his work, evoking nostalgia and inspiration. He is an artist with vision and a growing legacy.
