New Web Series Promotes Sexual Abuse Prevention and Awareness

ATLANTA - July 1, 2016 - PRLog -- Norlita Brown, award-winning author and founder of Brown Essence Entertainment, today released the first episode of The Closet Series, starring Shelia Wofford, Marvin Vance, Jr., Ikeko Bass and Kevin Savage, who was recently seen as Drew Sidora's love interest in TV One's original movie, Chasing Waterfalls. The web series brings the psychological trauma of sexual assault to the forefront and tells the story of how the pain of abuse goes far beyond the act of physical violence.

"We share the heart of lions with our uncontrollable urge to be passionate about expressing and exposing what people are typically turning a blind eye to," Colin Hodges, the film's Music Director stated. "Real pain and suffering of victims who most times cannot speak for themselves out of the horrible damage caused--self-blame, confusion about who you are - all of which are honest human emotions."

"These are difficult topics," Yvonne Lee Phillips, a member of the test audience, said after watching the first three episodes. The series resonates with victims of sexual abuse and incest as well. Ninety percent of child sexual abuse victims know their abusers. Brina Moses wrote: "[The Closet Series]" was very emotional for me because I went through the same thing with my biological father."

Brown, the film's writer and director, says, "We hope to bridge the gap between knowledge and understanding. Many people know what's going on, but few acknowledge it and even less understand it - these are the barriers we're trying to break."
