Follow on Google News | ![]() Blue Ridge Harley-Davidson® Supports AMA Don Tilley Memorial Half Mile Flat Track RaceThe race will honor Don Tilley, a Harley-Davidson racing icon who passed away last August in a motorcycle accident on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Originally from Statesville, Tilley began racing in the 1960s and became well known as a Harley-Davidson dealer and race bike builder. During his career, Tilley led several championship racing teams and he maintains the record as one of the most successful racing builders in AMA history. The AMA Pro Flat Track provides a thrilling event in two diverse classes, the GNC1 and GNC2. The GNC1 premier class is presented by Vance & Hines and is comprised of expert riders who have traveled the country competing on four different styles of tracks. The GNC2 class represents up-and-coming flat track competitors. Each class will be running twin-cylinder motorcycles for the race. The Blue Ridge Harley-Davidson ride will leave the dealership at 12 p.m. Practice for participants will begin at 2 p.m. at the Charlotte Motor Speedway and the opening ceremonies will kick off at 6 p.m. Famous riders Jay Springsteen, Gene Church and Tripp Nobles will be special guests at the event and will be available to sign autographs for fans.
