All these factors have led to: · Increased consumption of alcohol · Fatty foods · Growth of sedentary lifestyles across gender and age groups It's also true that there are more lifestyle-related diseases and health conditions today than there were previously. Liver damage is one such disease. The liver is a remarkably tolerant organ. It can withstand a lot of abuse in absolute silence and without any manifest symptoms - until the damage is 90%. The incidence of liver damage is increasing at an alarming rate in India, with one in every five people being affected by liver disease. MIOT International recognizes that these problems exist, but takes a pro-active approach to tackling them. One such initiative is the MIOT Liver Gym. Inaugurated in June 2015, it is a unique platform which focuses on reversing liver damage and minimizing your risk of contracting liver disease in the future. As part of its inaugural efforts on 26 June, MIOT International offered a Free Liver Check-up worth Rs. 6,000/- inclusive of evaluation tests, specialist sessions and customized Liver Fitness Plans to all registered and confirmed participants. The MIOT Liver Gym event was an exercise to increase public awareness about the liver, its health and its functions.
