Fort Myers Shoe Store, Foot Solutions Estero, Presents "Hometown Hero" Award

ESTERO, Fla. - Aug. 26, 2015 - PRLog -- A local business recently awarded Elizabeth Craciun-Bender as Southwest Florida’s “Hometown Hero”.  In May, footwear retailer Foot Solutions of Estero announced its “Hometown Hero” contest in an effort to acknowledge people who provide exemplary service to our community.  Each quarter, the store is accepting nominations and choosing an individual who best meets the criteria of a “Hometown Hero”.  The award is specific to those who are in positions requiring long periods of time on their feet, while positively impacting the community.   Out of the many nominations that were received for the third quarter, Elizabeth Craciun-Bender was chosen as the winner.  Elizabeth’s nomination letter received the highest number of votes from visitors to Foot Solutions Estero’s website, emailed votes, social media, and staff votes.

Elizabeth was nominated by one of her co-workers.  The nomination letter is below:

"I would like to nominate Elizabeth Craciun-Bender as a Hometown Hero.  Liz has worked for the Lee County Head Start program for 18 years as a Mental Health Specialist.  The Head Start program serves children birth to five years of age who have families that meet the Federal poverty guidelines.  Lee County Head Start also serves teen moms in an effort to support their ability to stay in school and develop their parenting skills.  Liz works tirelessly to provide pregnant moms who might be have maternal depression or who are living in other unimaginable life situations.  She offers strategies to teachers of infants and toddlers on how to comfort children and provide appropriate nurturing techniques.  Liz has play therapy sessions for young preschoolers when they are having behavioral issues in class or at home.  The children we serve are at-risk due to a number of factors such as parental incarceration, domestic violence, child abuse, homelessness, substance issues or other disruptive issues that threaten children’s ability to learn.  All of these risk factors impact young children and their families.  Liz works hard on a daily basis to make lives better for our youngest children so that they may grow to become productive citizens of the future. Liz has been on this road since 1997 in our program which, coincidentally, has had an impact on the health of her feet.  I hope that you will recognize that she is exactly the type of Hometown Hero that deserves to be honored by Foot Solutions of Estero."

Nominees may include anyone in Southwest Florida who in professions that contribute to our community, while requiring extensive time on the feet, such as:

Any hard worker who make a difference in our community

Winners will be selected based on the nominee’s positive impact on the local community.

Those who would like to nominate himself/herself or a friend/family member/co-worker for this award should write a brief paragraph about how this person has positively impacted our community, and why they should be chosen to receive the award.  Please include the nominee’s name, email, phone number, and any other relevant details.  A photo of the nominee in their work environment may also be included with the submission.
