Wild Side becomes member of Carbon Neutral Checkout™ Program, attains zerocarbon status

NEW YORK - Aug. 31, 2015 - PRLog -- 19 August, New York. Wild Side Specialty Tours, a Hawaii-based marine tours provider, signed an agreement with Carbon Credit Capital to become a member of Carbon Neutral Checkout™ Program. Wild Side, consistently ranked as a ‘Top Five’ Hawaii Tours, offers most exotic marine tours including whale watching, swimming with dolphins and guided snorkels with sea turtles and tropical marine life.

During 2014-2015, Wild Side was responsible for 69 tCO2e (tonnes of CO2 equivalent) of carbon emissions, with these emission coming largely from their two boat tours. Carbon Credit Capital, as a part of Carbon Neutral Checkout™ Program, estimated the carbon footprint of Wild Side operations including Scope1, 2 and 3 emissions.

The project chosen by Wild Side to offset their carbon footprint is a Wastewater Methane Recovery project (http://carboncreditcapital.com/product/tushan-wastewater-methane-recovery/) in the Anhui province of China which is helping to improve the water quality of open lagoons. The project drastically reduces methane emissions from waste-water and prevents CO2, PM and SOx emissions by replacing the use of about 45,000 tonnes of coal per year. This not only results in better air, water and health quality of the local community but also helps marine life in local water bodies.

Comprised of expert marine biologists, the team runs two tours which feature in several top-rated tours lists boasting a marine mammal sighting rate of 99.5%. Wild Side started taking out people in the wild to support their research projects, but soon it became a tour company and now they also try to bring the awareness and education.
