FALL 2015 CLASSES, THE OPENING OF THE NEW TAC ANNEX AND

PASTELS CHICAGO 2015: A NATIONAL JURIED EXHIBITION, SEPT 11 - OCT 31

HIGHLAND PARK, IL (AUGUST 2015)
– More than 10,000 shoppers from the North Shore, Chicagoland, Indiana, and Wisconsin came out to “reclaim, reuse and repurpose” previously owned works of art during The Art Center - Highland Park (http://www.theartcenterhp.org/)’s (TAC) 27th annual Gogh Green! Recycled (Pre-Owned) Art Sale.  The event was a tremendous success, raising $66,000 (a 30 percent increase over last year) to benefit education in the arts.  More than 6,000 pieces of art were sold at this highly anticipated annual event.

“This year’s donations from private collectors, galleries, estate sales, corporations and people downsizing were truly exceptional original art pieces from around the globe,” said Gabrielle Rousso, Executive Director of The Art Center–Highland Park.  “We are so grateful that so many people now know that they can donate their previously purchased artwork, furniture, frames, jewelry, knick knacks and treasures to TAC and receive a tax deduction.  The donors are always thrilled that their pieces are finding a new home where they will be appreciated and cherished.”

Gogh Green! was the perfect kick-off to TAC’s Fall Class Sessionwhich begins on September 15th with over 100 classes and workshops for art enthusiasts of all ages. “It is through these fabulous fundraisers and grants that our art education programs continue to flourish, bringing students of all ages from surrounding communities to our Highland Park art campus to create, learn and express,” says Rousso.

More exciting news: TAC is also proud to announce the opening of its new TAC Annex located right next door at The Highland Park Community House, in the former renovated Music Institute space.  The TAC Annex Studios will be the new home for mosaics and sculpture classes and open in time for Fall classes.  The space also offers individual artist studios available for rent and art exhibition spaces.

New this Fall session are adult classes in fiber, including natural dyes with Nui Shibori taught by the amazing Japanese fiber artist Akemi Nakano Cohn, new jewelry workshops, art and yoga classes and family, youth and teen workshops/classes in ceramics, mosaics and “super sculpture”.  TAC is also offering more than 75 scholarships to children, teens, adults and seniors in need during Fall Session.

TAC is a very unique and inventive place where students of all ages can imagine, create and enjoy the visual arts through exceptional classes, gallery exhibitions, and all-access events.  In the past year, more than 3,000 students ages 4-94, enjoyed over 400 fabulous art classes and workshops, including mosaics, silk painting, jewelry making, ceramics, photography, film, cartooning, and much more.

Registration for Fall 2015 class session is now open by visiting www.theartcenterhp.org or calling (847) 432-1888.  A Fall class calendar is available by downloadinghere.
