Religious Liberty and YP4 Social Justice Training September 25-26 in Louisville, KY

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Sept. 9, 2015 - PRLog -- Kentucky has been in the national headlines a lot this year. In some ways, we have become one of the testing grounds for the new civil rights movement. IDEAS xLab and our network of artists and partners are dedicated to alleviating inequality -- financial, racial, gender and sexual orientation.

Our organization devotes significant efforts and resources to issues in the new civil rights movement and we are dedicated to helping level the playing field. Diversity and inclusiveness promote innovation and are good for Louisville’s economy.

In order to expand the reach and scope of our community work, on September 25-26, 2015, IDEAS xLab has partnered with People for the American Way Foundation (http://www.pfaw.org/) to offer a 2-day program designed to expand the ongoing community discussion around religious liberty, social justice, politics, money and power in Louisville, KY.

Both events will be held at 1302 Texas Avenue. Louisville, KY 40217 (Corner of Texas and Goss).

EVENT 1: September 25: Religious Liberty: Sword or Shield?

Religious liberty is a treasured American value. Unfortunately, laws originally designed to shield individuals’ religious freedom have been turned into swords that, in the name of religion, harm other people and undermine measures to alleviate inequality in civil rights.

The panel discussion will be facilitated by Peter Montgomery (http://www.pfaw.org/media-center/spokespeople#montgomery), who oversees People For the American Way Foundation’s work to help progressives understand and more effectively communicate with important constituencies, particularly the reachable religious middle.

IDEAS xLab welcomes all viewpoints in the hopes of fostering a healthy dialogue around religious liberty, civil rights and issues of inequality in Louisville.

Doors open at 6:30pm, panel discussion begins at 7pm.

EVENT 2: September 26: YP4 Social Justice Training

In partnership with IDEAS xLab, Young People For (http://youngpeoplefor.org/) (YP4) seeks to engage young Kentuckians (ages 16-35) in facilitated conversations that enhance their social justice work through the lens of the creative activism (arts and media).

Young People For (YP4), a program of People For the American Way Foundation, is a strategic, long-term leadership development initiative that works to identify, empower, and engage the newest generation of progressive leaders.

IDEAS xLab and YP4 are dedicated to supporting young adults on their path to becoming community leaders by providing them with the skills and resources they need to create change.

Across the nation, YP4 Fellows work to effect positive change on issues ranging from Comprehensive Violence Reduction and Corporate Accountability to Racial Justice, LGBTQ Rights, Women’s Rights, Education, Healthcare and Progressive Coalition Building just to name a few.
